To do our part for North Texas Giving Day, we’re dedicating this week to supporting
Friends of Bachman Lake.

Friends of Bachman Lake was founded in 2019 with the mission of protecting and improving Dallas’ open spaces in and around Bachman Lake, just north of On Rotation down Lemmon Avenue.

Bachman Lake was originally constructed in 1903 by damming the Bachman Branch of the Trinity River Elm Fork and creating a 205-acre water source for Dallas residents.

The lake is the northern border of Dallas Love Field Airport and is the third largest body of water in the City of Dallas. (It hosts more daily visitors than Klyde Warren Park.)

Friends of Bachman Lake, along with Dallas Parks & Recreation, Greenspace Dallas, and Rooted In, are taking aim at restoring the Bachman Greenbelt, a 40-acre oasis just east of Bachman Lake.

This fall, Friends of Bachman Lake would like to focus on one acre and help bring the area back to its natural state. The landscape plan designed by Rooted In calls for the removal of invasive species and the planting of native shrubs and trees that have been squeezed out over the last several decades.

This one-acre project will cost roughly $26,000 so the Friends of Bachman Lake, the city, and their partners need our help to get it done!

All this week, when you pay by credit card at On Rotation, you’ll have the opportunity to donate directly to Friends of Bachman Lake through us.

And on North Texas Giving Day – Thursday, September 19 – we’ll be donating 10% of our sales to Friends of Bachman Lake.

Thursday also happens to be the first day of our OKTOBERFEST FEST FEST and Taco Thursday so there are plenty of reasons to treat yourself with us while supporting your community.

What is North Texas Giving Day?
