The key component to a Mexican lager is drinkability. Beyond that, there can be a lot of variation. Blue Agave is our play on the style, and it’s back on tap Thursday!

When we set out to make this brew, we knew we wanted to include a couple of signature ingredients to make it stand out in a crowd. First, we added blue agave nectar in addition to corn to add to its complexity. The nectar provides some floral undertones and just a hint of smokiness.

But, once we added blue agave nectar, we really thought this beer needed to be blue. So we added butterfly pea flower, an all-natural food coloring that turns this beer a lovely grayish blue.

That’s not its only trick, however. Just wait until you add a lime.
