A dynasty is not just history. A dynasty is a legacy of success. In sports, a team’s “dynasty” is when they are most dominant and have a series of wins that defines the team for generations of fans. A dynasty tells a story.

This beer tells a story, too.

Barrel-aged in a Lockwood Distilling bourbon barrel that previously housed this beer’s “cousin” barleywine, Nightcap, for several months, this rich English barleywine rested for three months before we broke it out of its slumber.

Molasses and caramel drip from each sip and linger on your tongue. A dark toasted breadiness, oak char, and sweet bourbon remnants balance the immense flavor.

Where Nightcap was very spirit-forward, being the first beer to enter the barrel after it was freshly dumped by Lockwood, Dynasty presents a more balanced profile where the bourbon is a delicious but complementary flavor. The greater presence of sweet, malty breadiness and body adds to the complexity of both the aroma and flavor.

At 14.5% ABV, you’ll probably sense the ABV is there, but Dynasty drinks very smooth with little residual burn.

This just might be the start of something.
